When young children ask what a word means, we are hard pressed to attempt to describe the definition without using the word itself. Similarly, it would be much easier to just say Avi Buffalo sounds like Avi Buffalo. Taking up the extra effort, but without doing this excellent band any justice, one might resort to suggesting reminiscent elements of The Flaming Lips as well as a hint of Zabriskie Point era Pink Floyd (think ‘Embryo’, ‘Green Is The Colour’, ‘The Narrow Way’). At any rate, Avi’s music is deeply emotive, creative, solemn, pretty, and inexorably trippy. Somehow they are able to slip their hands up underneath the back of your skull, creep their fingers over the top of your brain, and massage their thought provoking, emotion evoking, sense stimulating magic into your body.
We at Dirty Hippie Radio expect big things from the herds of Avi Buffalo fans, for Avi themselves have already set the stage. Look for them, they have come. ~Dirty Jeff
