The Spyrals epnymous debut LP on Mock Records, advance copy playing on DHR!
The Spyrals, out on Mock Records.
We’re proud to announce the inclusion of San Franciscan psychedelic outfit The Spyrals on DHR, courtesy of Los Angeles indie record label Mock Records. This is a double whammy, marking the debut full-length release for both The Spyrals and Mock Records. We’re exceedingly honored to feature an advance copy in our mix.
The Spyrals are pulsating with a strong neo-psychedelic appeal, echoing mid-late 1960′s garage and psych with surf undertones –ala The Great Society, Afterglow, [...]
Moon Block Party Presents: Desert Daze Festival
We are dumbfounded and nearly speechless by the sheer magnitude and brilliance of this momentous event. Our hats are off, and our pull-string beards down, to Moon Block Party for procuring Desert Daze Festival. With more bands than we care to count (maybe like 100 or something), the whole shebang runs 11 days strong at Dillon’s Roadhouse in Desert Hot Springs, Ca. Entry is free with a $5 donation suggested! Unbelievable. Gorgeous.
As it all began a week ago on Apr. [...]
DHR on KXLU – Playlist 4/7/11, Dirty Jeff’s Psychotropic Sounds
Well, DJ Jen decided to take a vacation. A much deserved vacation. So while she was out gallivanting the city nights while dodging sexy city men under heavy moonlight, Dirty Jeff got to sit in her chair, fill her shoes, and taste the sweet life from the captain’s seat on her show at KXLU (88.9FM Los Angeles).
The dynamo force that is DJ Jenny Gee of KXLU and Dirty Jeff of DHR is nearly overbearing. The sheer incredulity of the mind-blowing [...]
Dirty Hippie Radio Presents: Tune In Tuesdays at Patrick Molloys
This week, tonight in fact, at Tune In Tuesdays with Patrick Molloys (Hermosa Beach, CA), Dirty Hippie Radio Presents: The Cigarette Bums, Cobalt Cranes, Allah Las. No cover, food and dirty drink specials, starts 9pm.
Listen to The Cigarette Bums’ Music Now
With one of the best band names we’ve ever seen, these bums rock! It’s a very raw, bluesy, punk, garage rock n’ roll, expanded with a psych layer washed over with saxophone. Maybe a cross between The Stooges [...]
Ostentatious Apples
I hate waxed apples. I mean, c’mon, it’s so unnecessary. Are we so narcissistic that we need to see ourselves in the glimmering shine of our polished Whashingtons, Braeburns, and Fujis? Hell no! It’s just another case of overproduced music. Say whaaat? Yeah, I do think of overproduced music when I am forced to eat a (fake) shiny apple. I think of great music, like great fruit, that is spoiled with the over dazzled, superficial festoonery [...]

We want kids to be talking about DHR so much that parents think it must be the latest drug fad. We want our station to make the party like the rug that really ties the room together. We’ll see you at the festival if you’re there, and when we do we’ll give you a cool sticker and a high-five.
