Torches preview of new LP Heads Full Of Rust

Don’t know if it’s the virility of spring or what, but lately we’re being fantastically loaded up with advance albums, EPs, and singles. And we dig it!

South Pasadena psychedelic indie rock band Torches (formerly Torches In Trees) has graciously thrown 3 tracks our way from their forthcoming debut full-length Heads Full Of Rust, which drops May 20, 2012. Details below for the release party.

Some Ear-Candy Halloween Jams For Ya

Dirty Hippie Radio get’s into the Halloween spirit – in fact I just made it through Nightmare On Elm Street 7 last night – and it got me thinking of my favorite “Halloween” movies. Mad Monster Party? is undoubtedly one of the utmost classic Halloween movies of [...]

Silver Lake Jubilee Festival

We want kids to be talking about DHR so much that parents think it must be the latest drug fad. We want our station to make the party like the rug that really ties the room together. We’ll see you at the festival if you’re there, and when we do we’ll give you a cool sticker and a high-five.

Ostentatious Apples

I hate waxed apples.  I mean, c’mon, it’s so unnecessary.   Are we so narcissistic that we need to see ourselves in the glimmering shine of our polished Whashingtons, Braeburns, and Fujis?  Hell no!   It’s just another case of overproduced music. Say whaaat?  Yeah, I do think of overproduced music when I am forced to eat a (fake) shiny apple.   I think of great music, like great fruit, that is spoiled with the over dazzled, superficial festoonery [...]
